A person who laced sweets with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.
She explained Ruben proceeded to play the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities a second time.
She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
